Sunday Harp Circle

Led by Sunita Staneslow

On Sunday, we’ll close the festival weekend with something deeply communal and joyfully unpolished—in the best possible way. Our Harp Circle, led by Sunita Staneslow, will take place in the main ballroom (the exhibit hall space), transformed into a shared musical gathering.

This is the first time a Harp Circle has been included at one of our Harp Center Festivals —and we’re leaning fully into what makes the format special: participation, connection, and collective music-making.

How It Will Work

Participants are invited to engage in one of two ways:

Active Participants (Inner Circle)
Those who wish to lead, share, or perform will sit in the inner circle. Active participants may:

  • Lead one of the provided tunes from a lead sheet

  • Invite others to join for selected or repeated sections

  • Share a solo or short performance (sign-up with Sunita in advance)

Participating Observers (Outer Circle)
Harps will be set up in a larger surrounding circle for those who would like to:

  • Play along without leading

  • Join on refrains or repeated sections

  • Listen and absorb

The atmosphere is informal, welcoming, and collaborative—true to the spirit of harp circles often found at retreats, where shared repertoire and spontaneous contributions live side by side.

The Spirit of the Evening

This is not a recital. It’s not a masterclass. It’s not polished performance.

It’s shared sound in a shared room.

Whether you want to lead boldly, experiment quietly, or simply let the resonance of many harps wash over you, this circle is about connection—between players, traditions, and the living, breathing harp community we are building together.

Bring your curiosity. Bring your courage. Bring your harp.
